Sitar Star Subhan honoured with Indian Classical Award

This accolade, designed for musicians under age 18 who excel in Indian classical instruments, celebrates Subhan’s dedication and skill in a musical tradition that he has passionately pursued since he was 9.

Subhan said: "I am very excited and honoured to be chosen for the Indian Classical Award from Future Talent. I am looking forward to the many opportunities this will open up for me during the coming year. The award will allow me to buy new equipment and software which will help me in my music journey."

Subhan has demonstrated exceptional talent on the sitar. However, his musical interests extend beyond the sitar. He has taken up learning the tabla and piano, reflecting his enthusiasm for exploring diverse instruments and styles. Subhan’s aspirations include honing his performance skills, and he is excited about how the award will support this growth.

South Asian Arts UK, where Subhan has been a student for five years, plays a pivotal role in nurturing young artists and preserving the rich traditions of South Asian performing arts. Future Talent is proud to be partnered with SAA-UK, who's students, including Subhan, will be performing their own composition 'Serendipity' at our upcoming concert, RISE: Past, Present and Future Talent, in April 2025.

This recognition not only celebrates Subhan’s talent but also highlights the importance of platforms like Future Talent, which empower young musicians to pursue their passions.
